DIT in partnership with Dublin City Council and Age and Opportunity are running their Older Adults fitness module in semester 2.
Are you interested in working with older people from the local community to get them enjoying fitness and exercise again? If you are then this module is for you!
The aim of the programme is to equip DIT students with the skills and knowledge needed to teach fitness classes to older people. As part of the module there will be 2 3 hour workshops with Age and Opportunity to help students prepare for their work with older adults. Then there will be 6 practical classes that you as a student will teach to the older adults. You will be supervised by DIT and DCC staff.
At the end of the module you will then have to write up a reflective journal on your experiences over the semester. This module is worth 5 ETCS Credits and you will also get a certificate of attendance from Age and Opportunity as well as the practical skills that you will gain from working with people in the local community.
The module will take place on Thursdays starting with an introductory session on Thursday 28th Jan in room GO5 DIT Mountjoy Square at 12pm. Our team will be there to answer any questions you may have.
If you are interested or have any questions about the module please feel free to contact Emma Dunne on (01) 402 4171 or firstname.lastname@example.org
